Third Way’s Jim Kessler, Executive Vice President for Policy, explains how the 2020 Democratic Presidential primary process works from the first delegate to the last.

The person who emerges as the Democratic nominee will be the candidate who is best understands and takes advantage of the game's rules. Jim explains what factors will be important to watch as the primary process unfolds.

This presentation used publicly available data as of July 1, 2019. The calendar order and delegate totals may change as states finalize their plans.

As of July 16, 2019, there are now estimated to be 3,769 pledged delegates and 765 super delegates for 4,534 total delegates. The Wyoming caucus has also moved from March to April 4 to coincide with Alaska, Hawaii, and Louisiana.
