Third Way is looking for an Economic Policy Advisor. This position is for someone who is passionate about devising, advancing, and explaining mainstream policy solutions that help the American economy thrive in the post-COVID era. This person will unpack and analyze economic trends and data, convey this information to an informed audience through written and digital content, and collaborate internally and with external partners to develop and advance mainstream and pragmatic economic policy ideas.
As the Economic Policy Advisor, a typical day might include…
- Conducting data-intensive research and analysis on a wide range of economic issues and conveying this work in an accessible manner to general audiences;
- Authoring high-impact written reports, memos, data visualizations, and op-eds that compellingly promote specific economic policies.
- Analyzing proposed policy ideas and their impact on the United States;
- Meeting with a diverse cross-section of external partners including Capitol Hill and Administration staff and leaders in industry, nonprofits, and academia;
- Working with other members of Third Way’s economic, communications, and outreach teams to help plan and execute events and digital collateral; and
- Developing and deepening expertise on economic issues, which may include topics such as employment and benefits, skills and training, international trade, global supply chains, taxes, and the federal budget.

- A graduate degree or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field plus relevant work experience working on US economic policy AND with economic data in government, as a journalist, at a research institution, or in the private sector.
- An understanding of economic policy making in the United States and the roll politics plays in that process;
- Can effectively analyze and present economic data to a general audience;
- A demonstrated ability to research and write clearly on complex topics for an audience of non-experts;
- A desire to make a difference and an imprint as Third Way’s newest Economic Policy Advisor.
