Hannah Griggs

Hannah’s path to energy policy began far from the power grid: in graduate school, she studied gravitational waves, or ripples in spacetime created by some of the universe’s most extreme events. But while pursuing her Ph.D. in Physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology, she found herself increasingly drawn to challenges closer to home: how to build an energy system that is reliable, affordable, and resilient in the face of climate change and extreme weather. As Senior Policy Advisor for Electricity Markets, Hannah supports Third Way’s work to advance practical solutions for energy affordability and grid reliability. Before joining Third Way, Hannah advised leaders at the state and federal levels on electricity policy. As a California Council on Science and Technology Policy Fellow in the Office of California Energy Commission Chair David Hochschild, she worked on the implementation challenges shaping the clean energy transition, including interconnection, grid reliability, and energy-storage safety. She later served as a Congressional Science Fellow in the office of Senator Alex Padilla, managing a portfolio spanning transmission, electricity markets, affordability, permitting, and growing power demand. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys hiking and reading, and she is always looking for book recommendations. She is also embarking on her first gardening adventure and welcomes any and all advice.
