Maya Gibbs

Growing up in New England, Maya developed a deep appreciation for the natural environment and the beauty of all four seasons. Dedicated to protecting it and a fervent believer in the utility of policy and law to fight against climate change, Maya ventured down to DC where she received a Bachelor of Science of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, majoring in International Politics and minoring in Environmental Studies.

Georgetown fostered her passion for finding legal avenues and political solutions that prioritize and support vulnerable communities around the world experiencing the ongoing effects of climate change and environmental degradation. Committed to better understanding climate change in the context of the greater international system, Maya traveled across the pond gaining valuable insights into the global frameworks and agreements that shape climate action through her Masters of Philosophy in Environmental Policy at the University of Cambridge.

Before coming to Third Way, Maya worked as a Policy Strategist for a renewable energy company in Boston, focusing on solar and storage development. She is thrilled to embark on the next chapter of her career by joining Third Way as the Policy Advisor for Development for the Climate and Energy Program and is committed to leveraging her expertise in solar development and renewable energy policy to contribute to broader climate mitigation efforts.

Outside of work you can find Maya cheering for the Washington Spirit at Audi Field, traveling the world, or curled up with a good book.
