Failure is Failure - An Open Letter to Leadership

Make no mistake—failure is failure.
The inability of the Super Committee to even bring a plan up for a vote— despite templates provided by the Bowles-Simpson Commission, Domenici-Rivlin Commission, Third Way, and others—is a stunning disappointment. The fact that this special body established by Congress for one purpose could fall so spectacularly short will drive another nail into the coffin of public faith in government and set the stage for a brutal fiscal reckoning.
In this letter, Third Way is urging Congress to pick up the baton dropped by the Super Committee by committing to work on a comprehensive deficit deal in 2012.
