On June 24, 2022, millions of American women woke up with fewer freedoms than they possessed just hours before due to the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization which overturned the constitutional right to an access abortion. Consequently, the whiplash effect caused by the reversal of Roe v. Wade reestablished the inconsistent set of rules in each state that governed Americans before the Roe decision. In many states, abortion remains as accessible as it was before the Dobbs decision. But in a growing number of states, particularly in the South and Midwest, access to comprehensive reproductive care was essentially eliminated overnight. Now, months after the decision was handed down, uncertainties persist regarding the legality of abortion access across the country.
