Stephanie Hall
Stephanie Hall is a longtime teacher turned education policy advocate with expertise in institutional accountability and the for-profit education industry. Her research and advocacy in these areas have been instrumental for federal and state legislation, agency action, and oversight. Stephanie began her 20+ year career in education as a middle and high school teacher, first in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, and then in the Brazilian cities of Porto Alegre and Belo Horizonte. She has spent the past decade focused on policy issues including the governance of education policy and institutions, teacher education policy, undergraduate pathways, and workforce development. Before joining Third Way’s Education Program as a Senior Fellow, Stephanie served as senior director of higher education policy at the Center for American Progress (CAP). Prior to CAP, she worked with The Century Foundation and the University System of Maryland Office of Academic and Student Affairs. Stephanie earned her Ph.D. in international education policy at the University of Maryland, College Park, and holds a Master of Arts in educational leadership and administration from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in education from Reinhardt College. Stephanie is a dedicated Washington Spirit and US Women’s National Team supporter. Besides watching (and sometimes playing) soccer, Stephanie loves reading and watching cozy mysteries and hanging out with her dogs, Morty and Ela.
