Former Congressman Tim Ryan Joins Third Way as Senior Visiting Fellow
Congressman Ryan will help highlight the benefits of the clean energy transition for American workers and competitiveness
WASHINGTON – Third Way is pleased to announce today that former Congressman and US Senate candidate Tim Ryan is joining Third Way as a Senior Visiting Fellow working with the Climate and Energy Program. He will emphasize the critical role of American workers in the clean energy transition and the benefits it has for them, their communities, and for US competitiveness.
Congressman Ryan’s two decades in Congress and recent Senate campaign were devoted to the needs of working-class Ohioans. He’s continuing that legacy by leading a new campaign to connect heartland workers to an ambitious national effort to deliver reliable, affordable, and secure clean energy. The landmark investments in clean energy passed by Congress and signed by President Biden put the American worker front and center in a new era of American innovation.
With a trifecta of technological prowess, historic investment, and good old-fashioned American ingenuity, the US has the tools to build a competitive edge in a rapidly growing clean energy marketplace. Congressman Ryan will bring his experience and insight to ensure that opportunity goes to American workers and businesses so they reap the economic benefits from leading a clean energy transition.
“I have worked with Third Way over the last two decades as a member of Congress. They are on the cutting edge of the new ideas and new coalitions that can transform America,” said Third Way Senior Visiting Fellow and former Congressman Tim Ryan. “I am thrilled to join them in this effort to connect a strong Pro-American energy policy with the workers that will build this Arsenal of Energy. Our policies are not pro-American unless they are pro-worker and I’m excited to join Third Way to fight to make this a reality."
“Tim Ryan understands like few others how, as he describes it, ‘energy is the backbone of the American middle class,” said Josh Freed, Third Way’s Senior Vice President of the Climate and Energy Program. “The Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law puts steel into that backbone. Now we need to make sure the investments are done right and have the buy-in of the workers who will benefit. We are thrilled for Tim to join Third Way as a fellow to connect directly with these workers and help ensure this happens. ”
