Get to Know an Industry, with the Advanced Nuclear Directory

Third Way released its first map showing the surprising size and diversity of advanced reactor developers in 2015. It seemed like a revelation that this advanced nuclear industry existed, let alone that it had an impressive pipeline of projects, over $1 billion in private investment, and the support of several high-profile leaders in the business community. It definitely caught people’s attention. Since then, we’ve seen a major uptick in interest from clean energy advocates and the media, and rapid movement of supportive policies on Capitol Hill.
As word has spread about this emerging energy sector, we’ve heard growing demand from friends in the policy and investment communities who want to become more familiar with individual companies working in the advanced nuclear space. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Department of Energy’s Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear (GAIN) to produce the 2017 Advanced Nuclear Directory. This new product shows a cross-section of the businesses developing advanced reactors, the companies planning to supply their components, and the national labs providing critical support along the way. It is designed to give readers a general sense of the extent of this industry, a chance to learn a bit more about what each participating company does, and a way to reach out directly to any of the companies to get a deeper conversation started. The directory will be a “living document” that gets revised as the industry continues to evolve and mature. For instance, we plan to update it to include any qualifying companies that want to participate.
So take a look and feel free to share with anyone interested in digging a bit further into this exciting industry.
