Third Way

Born and raised in San Francisco, Simone has been passionate about politics and electing Democrats for as long as she can remember. She recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Chicago, with a degree in Political Science and Law, Letters, and Society. Bringing together her interests in American politics, law, and women’s rights, Simone’s thesis analyzed how the conservative legal movement aims to ban abortion in a post-Dobbs world, offering a new theory for how federalism first enabled – but now constrains – conservatives on the issue of abortion. Outside of class, Simone could almost always be found at the Institute of Politics (IOP), where she worked as a communications intern for two years and served on the Student Advisory Board. In addition to writing the IOP’s weekly newsletter and drafting press releases, she also created and executed a media strategy for the IOP to promote the results of a pre-2024 election youth poll. With the IOP, she crafted a compelling story about why the poll should receive national attention and worked with reporters to ultimately secure coverage in The New York Times, the Chicago Sun Times, and local Chicago radio shows. She has also worked as a Student Assistant to the Law, Letters, and Society department, directed and choreographed for a contemporary student dance group, and served as a poll worker on Election Day. Her first job – and favorite – was as a camp counselor and lifeguard at her beloved all-girls sleepaway camp in Maine. New to Washington, Simone can’t wait to explore the city. In her free time, you can find her trying out a new yoga class, searching for the best Italian sub around, or diving into a new book.
