Luke Watson

A framed copy of the ACA hangs on Luke’s office wall. Greeting him in the morning and bidding him adieu in the evening, it’s a constant reminder of what can happen when people strive towards a common aspiration and, put simply, get things done.

Luke is Deputy Director of Strategy and Leadership Development at Third Way. That means mentoring staff, teaching professional development, facilitating staff retreats, and designing external workshops—but his proudest accomplishments lie in creating a well-respected fellowship program and transforming Third Way’s culture to be one of constant learning. His work at Third Way has made the organization a more attractive place to work for potential and current employees.

Luke’s first role in Washington was leading Congressman-elect Paul Hodes’ transition into office. In just six months, he opened five district offices, hired a full staff, and established office protocols and systems, allowing him to begin the work of building and strengthening relationships in the district. He led the creation of constituent advisory groups, recruiting and managing the groups to bring new ideas to the congressman and ensuring the work the congressman was doing in DC was known back home.

Luke is a proud Texan and graduated with a BS from The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton. When he’s not changing the world, he’s on the golf course or trying out some of the so-called barbecue of the mid-Atlantic.
