Sandra Max
Sandy is the Deputy Director for Health Care at Third Way, where she helps lead the organization’s work to make the U.S. health system more stable and affordable for people who depend on it. She brings experience shaping health policy across government and the private sector and understands how policy moves from concept to real-world impact. Sandy works to connect policymakers, providers, payers, and patients to build solutions that work.
Before joining Third Way, Sandy led federal government affairs for a health technology company, working to expand access to innovative care. Sandy advised Senator John D. Rockefeller IV on Medicare and broader health policy, served as a policy analyst in the White House Domestic Policy Council, and was a Presidential Management Fellow at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Earlier, she supported congressional committees focused on aging and long-term care and worked at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, gaining firsthand experience translating policy into practice. Volunteering in nursing homes early on showed her the challenges patients and families face and inspired her commitment to keeping people at the center of policy.
Sandy holds an MPH from Columbia University, an MPA from the University of Southern California, and a BA from the University of Michigan. Outside of work, she enjoys taking photos and can often be found searching for the perfect shot.
