Ippo Dellatolas
Prior to joining Third Way, Ippo was a Congressional Fellow on the House Committee on Appropriations for Energy and Water, gaining insight into the factors that determine funding priorities in the energy space.
Ippo holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. Throughout her degree, Ippo worked with MIT’s Office of Sustainability to shape and implement the university’s Climate Action Plan. Her eagerness to understand how decisions were being made at the national level led to the National Academies of Sciences in Washington, DC, where she worked on decarbonization pathways in the US, analyzing legislation and judicial rulings to provide policy recommendations. Having also worked at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Energy in Brussels, Ippo gained additional exposure to international cooperation and governance frameworks for policy implementation. These experiences cemented her passion for energy policy, respect for bipartisanship, and dedication to social impact. While at MIT, she also led student initiatives in science policy, including spearheading federal advocacy efforts on behalf of graduate students, on topics ranging from research funding to expanding access to higher education.
She’s excited to leverage her passion for science and innovation, international background, and Hill experience to accelerate the deployment of clean energy technologies. Growing up in Paris, France, to a Greek family, and having spent a few years in Indianapolis, Indiana during her childhood, Ippo has had a multicultural upbringing. She is always eager to meet new people and curious to understand different perspectives on issues. Outside of work, Ippo loves spending time with friends practicing yoga, exploring new restaurants, and getting lost in nature and cities.
