David Horvitz is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of SouthOcean Capital Partners, LLC and SouthOcean Investment Partners, LLC. Previously, he was Chairman of WLD Enterprises, the family office of the descendants of his father, William D. Horvitz, a real estate developer and philanthropist in South Florida. The SouthOcean companies provide investment management services through funds for the Horvitz family and others.
David is active in philanthropy and community service. He is Chairman the Board of Governors of the NSU Art Museum Ft. Lauderdale (term as chair will end June 30, 2017). He is on the board of directors of the Graham Gund Gallery at Kenyon College (Kenyon’s art museum) and chaired that board from 2011 through 2016. He has been a Trustee of Kenyon College for 25 years where he chaired two capital campaigns and chaired its Board of Trustees from 2003 to 2007. He is a board member of United States Artists, a grant-making organization founded by the Ford Foundation; the Rockefeller Foundation; the Prudential Foundation; and the Rasmussen Foundation. He is a founder and former chair of the board of Camp Boggy Creek, the third camp in the family of camps that are now part of the SeriousFun Children’s Network. He is a former chair of the Board of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps the predecessor to SeriousFun Children’s Network. This is the parent organization for all 19 camps and 30 programs around the world, founded by Paul Newman to provide life-changing experiences for children coping with serious illnesses.
From 2007 to 2014 David served as a Trustee of the Kresge Foundation, where he chaired its investment committee. He served on the board of Nova Southeastern University; the board of the Miami Music Association (Cleveland Orchestra Miami); the board of the Community Foundation of Broward County; and the board of the Jewish Federation of Broward County.
He is a graduate of Kenyon College and has a J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law.
He lives in Ft. Lauderdale Florida with his wife, Francie Bishop Good, an artist and advocate for the arts, and their three rescue dogs. They have four children and six grandchildren.
