Bill Schneider, Cole Mitchell, & Jessica Harris
The Inside Politics Newsletter is authored by revered political analyst and longtime CNN contributor, Bill Schneider. He provides monthly insights into the pols, polls, and issues that shape our political landscape.
May 2012 – In this month’s Inside Politics Newsletter, Bill discusses the importance of the Latino vote, especially in swing states. In the last presidential election, Republicans saw their share of the Latino vote decline from 40% to 31%. Governor Romney has said, if elected, that he would support policies that would be so tough on illegal immigrants that they would voluntarily “self deport.” Will Governor Romney change his position and risk further criticism as a flip flopper?
On p.3, Bill looks at the implications of the declining number of moderate and conservative Democrats in recent elections and also examines the impact of religious observance on the presidential vote. The infographic on p. 4 illustrates how the much maligned TARP program has actually cost taxpayers $0 to date. Not one cent.
