April 2011 – The Inside Politics Newsletter is authored by revered political analyst and longtime CNN contributor, Bill Schneider. He provides monthly insights into the pols, polls, and issues that shape our political landscape.

In this issue: The decision to raise taxes or decrease spending is unpopular in the polls but there is consensus in the Government and on Wall Street that is must be done. Will congress make unpopular decisions and will the suffer for it? On page three who is most concerned about the budget deal? Republicans. The back page graphic illustrates a trend: when one party controls the legislature and the executive branch there is unified support in that party to raise the ceiling and unified opposition on the opposing party against raising it. When the executive branch and the legislature are controlled by different parties: there is support in both parties to raise the ceiling.
