Congressional Recess Packet: Highlighting Health Care Accomplishments

As Members of Congress travel back home, there is no shortage of issues to discuss with constituents. Our advice: don’t forget about health care. Health care remains top of mind for Americans, and Democrats have a strong record to tout. Below are three infographics, sample tweets, and talking points policymakers can use to highlight the important work done to make health care more affordable and accessible.
1. Biden v. Trump on Seniors’ Insulin Prices

Sample tweets:
- Thanks to President Biden and Congressional Democrats, seniors are paying LESS for their insulin. Starting this year, seniors’ monthly insulin costs are now capped at $35!
- Earlier this year, seniors’ insulin costs were capped to just $35 a month. I was proud to vote for the Inflation Reduction Act to deliver these critical savings.
2. 6 Key ACA Accomplishments

Sample tweets:
- The Affordable Care Act has been life changing for millions of Americans! 129+ million Americans with pre-existing conditions are protected from discrimination by insurance companies.
- The ACA is lowering families’ health care costs. 4 out of 5 ACA marketplace customers can find insurance plans for <$10/month!
- Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, the rate of uninsured Americans has been cut in half!
3. Democrats Lower Premium Costs

Sample tweets:
- Thanks to President Biden and Congressional Democrats, ACA marketplace enrollees see an average monthly saving of $62 from the enhanced premium tax credits I supported.
- There is RECORD enrollment in the ACA marketplace and reduced premium costs all thanks to the American Rescue Plan and Inflation Reduction Act. I was proud to vote for these two landmark bills.
Talking Points
- A record 21.3 million Americans enrolled in health insurance through the Affordable Care Act marketplace this year.
- As a result of Democratic action, marketplace enrollees are saving $62/month on average in premiums, with four-in-five customers paying less than $10/month for coverage.
- Democrats capped out-of-pocket drug costs for seniors through Medicare Part D at $2,000 a year and capped monthly insulin costs at $35.
- The ACA has never been more popular, with six-in-ten adults having a favorable view of the ACA, including 89% of Democrats and 62% of Independents.
- While Democrats are making health care more affordable, Republicans are trying to gut the Affordable Care Act, cut Medicare for seniors, and take Medicaid away from America’s most vulnerable.
- If President Trump wins in 2024, he has threatened to repeal the ACA. With subsidy enhancements set to expire 2026, a Trump Presidency would mean more expensive health care for millions.
