A College Tuition Tax Cut and the Recovery Package
By:
Anne Kim, Jim Kessler
SUMMARY
This memo argues that a generous college tuition tax cut is a critical component of the pending recovery package.
Despite plummeting stock prices and home values, college tuitions are still on the rise. For many middle-class families, the economic shocks of this recession may mean that their hopes of sending a child to college have been put on hold. A generous college tuition tax cut, however, can put these aspirations back on track and make an immediate difference in the lives of millions of families and college-bound students.
