The signs that a ship is about to sink are probably pretty obvious: water is coming aboard and the hull has been breached. But are the signs that a college is about to close as evident? The federal government has limited metrics in place to assess the financial health of institutions of higher ed, and as our latest video shows, inadequate metrics for determining the stability of a college coupled with the added financial pressures due to COVID-19 could make an already tenuous situation even worse. We owe it to our students to make sure they don’t go down with a sinking ship.
