Third Way Statement on the Bipartisan KIDS Act

Director of Technology Policy

WASHINGTON--Third Way’s Director of Technology Policy, Ruth Whittaker, issued the following statement on the release of the bipartisan kids’ safety package, the KIDS Act.

“Protecting kids online is a national imperative, and no single bill will solve the challenge alone. The bipartisan KIDS Act is an important step forward—a serious effort to build the balanced framework needed to keep children safe in the digital world. The package establishes strong privacy protections and baseline safety standards while giving parents and caregivers the tools they need to make decisions that work for their families.

“Chairman Guthrie and Ranking Member Pallone deserve a lot of credit for working across the aisle to address one of the most urgent challenges facing families today. We encourage lawmakers in both parties to maintain that bipartisan momentum, resolve the remaining issues, and move this package toward passage.”
