Third Way Statement on Michael Barr's Nomination to Federal Reserve Vice Chair

"Third Way applauds President Biden's nomination of Michael Barr to one of the top spots on the Federal Reserve Board.

"As the dean of the University of Michigan’s public policy school, an Obama Administration alum, and a talented lawyer passionate about consumer protection, Mr. Barr is deeply qualified to serve as Vice Chair for Supervision of the Federal Reserve. As the Biden Administration works to continue the robust recovery from the COVID-induced economic challenges, Mr. Barr has proven he is ready to play a critical role in fighting inflation, regulating our financial institutions, and strengthening the labor market.

"With years of experience and a commitment to public service, Michael Barr should pass confirmation swiftly and with bipartisan support. We urge Congress to confirm Mr. Barr's nomination, as well as the four other exceedingly qualified nominees—Jerome Powell, Lael Brainard, Philip Jefferson, and Lisa Cook— who are still awaiting a vote on the Senate floor."
