Third Way Says Haaland is the Right Choice to Lead Interior and Help the US Meet Critical Climate Goals

Third Way released the following statement from Josh Freed, Senior Vice President for the Climate and Energy Program at Third Way, regarding Interior Secretary-Designate Rep. Deb Haaland (D-NM).

WASHINGTON - “Rep. Deb Haaland is a historic choice and the right choice to lead Interior. We are excited to work with her as Secretary to help implement the Biden Administration’s agenda,” said Josh Freed, Senior Vice President of Third Way’s Climate and Energy Program. “ She is uniquely suited to lead a Department at the nexus of stewarding public lands and waters, taking action to get the US to net-zero emissions by 2050 at the latest, and creating well-paying jobs. Secretary-designate Haaland was clear today that fossil fuels will remain a major resource for the United States ‘for years to come.’ But, as she explained, they will exist in an energy sector that is evolving rapidly and in a nation that is taking on climate and creating new, clean energy jobs on public lands.”
