Third Way Celebrates the Confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson

WASHINGTON — Third Way released the following statement from Lanae Erickson, Senior Vice President for Social Policy, Education & Politics:

“With today’s vote, a new day begins in America with the historic confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States. Third Way celebrates Justice Jackson’s elevation to this esteemed role as a long-overdue step towards ensuring the full talent and diversity of America is reflected throughout all levels of our judicial system.

“As the first Black woman to serve on the nation's highest court, Justice Jackson will bring a sharp legal mind and an invaluable perspective to the job not previously represented by other Justices. She will also contribute her breadth of experience as a district court judge, an appellate court judge, and the first former public defender in the Court’s history.

“Throughout a rigorous confirmation process, Justice Jackson reaffirmed her exceptional qualifications to the American people. She displayed integrity, intelligence, compassion, and an immense dedication to public service. Her unwavering temperament and thoughtful judicial approach are the embodiment of what every Justice privileged to serve on the Court should possess. We are pleased to see bipartisan support for Justice Jackson’s confirmation and applaud those Senators who put aside political differences to support this eminently qualified nominee.

“This is a great day for America as another glass ceiling has been shattered. A new generation of young women will have an extraordinary role model in public service and the administration of justice. We congratulate Justice Jackson and her family and look forward to her contributions to the Court and her continued service to our nation.”
