Washington - “With the West on fire, the economy in bad shape, and people in desperate need of jobs, the House acted today. The Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act (CEJIA) is a building block that will start putting Americans back to work safely and quickly to build the clean energy economy our country desperately needs,” said Josh Freed, Senior Vice President of Third Way’s Climate and Energy Program.

“Of course, President Donald Trump has threatened to veto this investment in America’s workers and our nation’s future. That speaks volumes about how this administration has abandoned all of us in the midst of a pandemic, recession, and climate crisis. The energy package contains countless provisions that would help the country recover from its recession by investing in a clean energy future. This includes modernizing the grid, building electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and accelerating innovation in carbon capture, advanced nuclear, and dozens of clean energy technologies. It’s not everything we need, but the bill is a critical step toward placing the United States on the fastest path to net-zero emissions by mid-century, all while improving American competitiveness. We hope the Senate will continue to pursue its own clean energy package, and work with the House to enact meaningful legislation that invests in the United States and solutions to help address climate change.”
