The Medical Debt Cancellation Act Protects the Health and Security of Everyone in America

“Third Way has long advocated for ending medical debt and believes the Medical Debt Cancellation Act by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) is a critical step forward. No one in America chooses to have medical debt, and cancelling it is an essential step to protect the health and security of everyone in America. The next step is to prevent medical debt from happening in the first place. For us, that means building on the Affordable Care Act to make sure everyone has affordable and adequate coverage. Although we disagree with Sen. Sanders and Rep. Khanna about single-payer health care, we look forward to working with them and other members of Congress to perfect and enact medical debt legislation.”
