Statement from Third Way on Senate Confirmation of NRC Chair Christopher Hanson

WASHINGTON— Third Way released the following statement from Josh Freed, Senior Vice President for the Climate and Energy Program, following the Senate vote to confirm Christopher Hanson for his second term as Chair of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

“We are glad that the Senate confirmed Chris Hanson to serve a full term as Chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Chair Hanson’s leadership has helped modernize the NRC and ushered in a new and transformative era for US nuclear energy. Given the growth in interest in nuclear power in the US, we are certain that Chair Hanson’s second term will be similarly impactful.

With growing bipartisan support for US nuclear energy in Congress and across the country, the work of the NRC is more important than ever before.
