President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris have saved our democracy, made history, and will move America forward

On this historic and joyful day, the Democratic ticket saved our democracy and shattered a glass ceiling. Joe Biden has done what only three others have done in the past century: he resoundingly defeated an incumbent president. Now, a deeply damaging presidency will come to an end, and a new day will dawn for America.

President-elect Biden ran a masterful campaign. He never wavered in his view that this election was both a referendum on Trump and Trumpism and a historic opportunity for Democrats to offer a new direction – one that was bold, ambitious, and decidedly moderate in its approach to this nation’s challenges. He weathered a difficult and bruising primary, ultimately demolishing the conventional wisdom that said embracing far-left ideas is the only path to energize and turn out Democratic voters. And in the general election, he offered the greatest possible contrast with Donald Trump – calm, reasoned, truthful, and unifying.

The election of Vice President-elect Harris will, at long last, put a woman – and a woman of color – in national elected office. She will bring her brilliance, passion, toughness, and compassion to her new role at a moment when it is needed more than ever in the White House.

Third Way was proud to stand by Joe Biden from the beginning of this race to the end, and we could not be more excited to work with the new President- and Vice President-elect as they do the work to repair what has been broken and move our country forward.
