On Earth Day 2021, Third Way Applauds Biden-Harris Administration for Efforts to Create Jobs, Strengthen American Economy, and Transition Towards Clean Energy
WASHINGTON - Josh Freed, Senior Vice President of the Third Way Climate and Energy Program, released the following statement for Earth Day 2021:
“This year, Earth Day is a much more hopeful occasion. With the Biden-Harris Administration firmly in command, America is finally back in the business of mobilizing the resources needed to speed up our clean energy transition, creating good-paying jobs and expanding economic opportunity in every region of the country. These are the cornerstones of the American Jobs Plan. The plan shows how this White House is squarely focused on how it can drive American competitiveness, prepare workers for a clean energy future, build a more resilient infrastructure, and strengthen our economy for future shocks.
“As the world’s attention turns toward President Biden’s virtual summit on climate this week, we encourage other countries to commit as much as the United States is preparing to commit to realizing a shared and prosperous future. A target of a carbon emissions reduction of 50-52% below 2005 levels by 2030 is daunting but correct, given the enormity of the climate challenge before us.”
