House Democrats must unite behind Pelosi

WASHINGTON — Third Way released the following statement from Jon Cowan on the newly elected Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives:

“Nancy Pelosi has shown over and over since her historic election as Speaker in 2007 that she has the skill and savvy to lead a broad caucus and deliver legislative victories that have stood the test of time. We congratulate her for her selection by the House Democrats to be Speaker once again. There is no better person for the job at this fraught moment in our politics and our history. We also salute Steny Hoyer and longtime Third Way Honorary Co-Chair Jim Clyburn for their selection by the caucus to re-assume the positions of Majority Leader and Majority Whip in the 116th Congress. And we’re thrilled to see the rise of enormous talents like Ben Ray Lujan and Hakeem Jeffries. With the addition of Katherine Clark, David Cicilline, and Third Way co-chair and friend Cheri Bustos, Democrats have chosen a strong and diverse team to lead their caucus.
