End Family Separation Now, Mr. President

WASHINGTON—Third Way issued the following statement from Lanae Erickson Hatalsky, Vice President for Social Policy & Politics:

"The horrifying images of small children tearfully ripped from their parents is the direct result of an immoral and cruel policy instituted by President Trump and his administration. There is no law mandating vulnerable immigrant families be treated with such cruelty and callousness. It is a reprehensible departure from past administrations — both Democratic and Republican — that took care to avoid policies they knew would create this crisis. This anti-family and anti-American policy can and must end today. There is no need for Congress to convene or a vote to be held to begin to right this wrong. The authority rests with the President. But if he refuses to do so, we strongly urge Congress to act swiftly to halt this pointless brutality."
