Blanket debt forgiveness is bad policy and bad politics
WASHINGTON — Third Way released the following statement from Lanae Erickson, Senior Vice President for Social Policy and Politics:
"Blanket debt forgiveness is bad policy and bad politics. It's a regressive giveaway that primarily benefits upper middle class people who attended elite four year colleges. And there's nothing about that which will help Democrats appeal to the bulk of black, white, and Latinx voters who don't have a degree. They want policies that equip them with skills so they can earn a good life, not ones that shovel more tax dollars only to the four-year degree holders who are already doing well in this changing economy."
