Third Way is excited to announce today that Chris Fenton has joined the Third Way National Security team’s US-China Digital World Order Advisory Board.

Vice President for the National Security Program Valerie Shen noted, “Chris Fenton’s experience as a media executive working at the center of the U.S.-China relationship is vital as we begin to look into how China seeks to wield its digital influence abroad. We are thrilled to have his unique insights aid us in developing crucial national security directives, and his extensive media training will help us amplify messaging of our efforts to the public.

"The US-China Digital World Order Advisory Board will be instrumental in helping our team explore and develop partnerships, collaborators, and funding opportunities for the program to identify and stop the Chinese government’s creeping digital authoritarianism. We want members who will be able/willing leverage contacts in the private sector, academia, government and foundations to help guide specific, pragmatic solutions tailored for legislation in collaboration with organizational partners and members of Congress.

"Each Advisor will help to provide individual advising as needed on securing strategic partnerships, funding, and projects.

"Fenton is currently CEO of Media Capital Technologies, a company focused on strategic investments in premium entertainment content. Previously, Chris Fenton served as the longtime president of DMG Entertainment Motion Picture Group, internationally orchestrating the creative and business activities of DMG—a multi-billion-dollar global media company headquartered in Beijing. He has produced or supervised twenty-three films, from Iron Man 3 & Looperto Blockers & Chappaquiddick, grossing $2 billion in worldwide box office.

"Over the years Fenton has partnered with global entertainment brands like Marvel and Hasbro while also serving on the boards of Valiant Entertainment, Wasabi Cloud Storage, & WatchMojo. Fenton’s expertise and influence in U.S.-China policy comes through his work as a trustee for the US-Asia Institute, lifetime memberships in the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and Council on Foreign Relations, and as the author of Feeding the Dragon (Simon & Schuster - 2020). He contributes as an opinion writer for publications including RealClearPolitics, South China Morning Post, CNN, The Federalist, and C- Suite Quarterly and guests frequently on Bloomberg, CBS, NPR, Fox, Fox Business, BBC, CNBC, and News Nation.

“Twenty years of practical, hands-on experience working between the two superpowers provides a fortunate advantage for approximating Beijing’s intentions with propaganda and soft-power influence. Our nation must immediately address national security concerns derived from China’s digital authoritarianism, and I look forward to working with Third Way’s world-class team to find vital solutions to America’s most pressing global challenge.”
