If it wasn’t clear four months ago, it is clear now: the next global era will be defined by democracy versus autocracy. In this competition, a new and decisive divide pits America’s approach of “digital democracy” against China’s approach of “digital autocracy"—and the US needs to catch up.

Third Way’s National Security Program invites you to kick off our new bipartisan US-China Digital World Order Initiative in a lunch discussion with former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Michèle Flournoy, former Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Mac Thornberry (R-TX-13), Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Ruth Berry, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Mieke Eoyang, Chief Executive Officer of the Center for a New American Security Richard Fontaine, and Director of Cybersecurity and Secure Digital Innovation at National Security Council for The White House, Carole House.

Our new initiative will send a wake-up call to policymakers for the US to develop, lead, and execute a strategy to secure a digital world order grounded in freedom of speech, human rights, civil liberties, and truth.
