Did you know that in 2020, Asian American and Pacific Islander voters had the biggest turnout increase from 2016, up 39% in just four years? Or that a whopping 42% of AAPI voters cast a presidential ballot for the first time in their current state? There’s much to learn about the AAPI community – the fastest growing and arguably least understood group of voters.
Third Way hosted this timely and important event during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi gave opening remarks for our conversation with Reps. Ted Lieu and Marilyn Strickland. They shared their take on what issues drive AAPI voters, what the national media needs to better understand about this diverse group, and how political leaders can earn their votes.
