The evidence and public record show clearly that President Trump violated his fundamental duty: to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. But as Democrats pursue impeachment, the way that we prosecute the case to the public will be pivotal.
What President Trump did is not in dispute: He withheld desperately needed military aid to pressure the government of Ukraine to manufacture a baseless investigation to harm his political rival and interfere in our elections.
Public support for impeachment is rising, but to solidify those gains, we must sow doubt about the hollow talking points coming from Trump loyalists and target our message at persuadable voters. That requires a simple, facts-based argument. Use these resources on how to frame and discuss impeachment in neutral or hostile places and to rebut the most egregious claims from the Trump apologists.
