Third Way Applauds New Biden-Harris Electric Vehicle Charging Action Plan
WASHINGTON—Third Way released the following statement from Ryan Fitzpatrick, Director of the Climate and Energy Program at Third Way:
“Third Way applauds the Biden-Harris Administration on releasing a bold and ambitious Electric Vehicle Charging Action Plan. Alongside the historic investments in EV chargers and battery manufacturing included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, this plan will provide the guidance needed to establish a national EV charging network that is accessible to everyone, particularly in rural and disadvantaged communities, so we can have enough chargers in the ground to meet the President’s goal of 50% EV sales by 2030.
“This plan is noteworthy not just for what it will accomplish, but also how. The Biden-Harris strategy will deliver the charging network we need while positioning the US as a leader in a fiercely competitive global market by strengthening US manufacturing and the domestic supply chain for batteries. Moreso, the Biden-Harris Administration is gathering input from a broad array of stakeholders who represent state and local government, manufacturers, environmental justice groups, and tribal communities to account for their diverse needs and interests when building out EV infrastructure across the country.
“This Action Plan is a testament to the Administration’s commitment to fully and equitably decarbonize our transportation sector, grow our economy, and empower American workers and companies to lead our transition to EVs.”
