Third Way Applauds Bipartisan Permitting Deal
WASHINGTON—Third Way Vice President for Climate and Energy Ryan Fitzpatrick issued the following statement in response to the release of the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026.
“The release of bipartisan permitting reform legislation marks a major step toward building the energy infrastructure America needs. With an aging grid and rapidly increasing electricity demand, modernizing the federal government's permitting of new energy and transmission projects is essential. This technology-neutral legislation represents meaningful progress toward delivering the affordable and reliable electricity American families and businesses need.
“Legislative efforts of this scale require compromise, and we applaud the negotiators for working to break Washington’s stagnation on this issue. We’ll be taking a close look at the details, but it is already clear that this legislation will make significant improvements to a broken system.
“The status quo isn’t working and will prevent America from achieving reliability, affordability, and sustainability in its energy sector. Responsible policymakers and stakeholders should all be committed to getting to yes on this deal.
“We look forward to continuing our work with the sponsors and other permitting reform champions to support this legislation as it moves toward bipartisan passage.”
