Statement on the Reintroduction of the Postsecondary Student Success Act
WASHINGTON—Third Way released the following statement from Michelle Dimino, Director of Education:
“Completing college remains one of the most reliable pathways to economic opportunity, but too many students don't make it across the finish line to a degree. Today’s reintroduction of The Postsecondary Student Success Act reflects a commitment to helping our nation’s students reach their goals.
“Getting students to college is a feat of its own, but we must also ensure they make it through their education and experience the full benefits of a degree. The Postsecondary Student Success Grant program empowers institutions to scale proven practices that help students persist and graduate. By permanently authorizing the program, this legislation will lead to higher completion rates, better workforce outcomes, and a stronger return on investment in higher education.
“The Postsecondary Student Success Grant Program has earned bicameral support and received funding in the four prior fiscal year budget agreements. To date, 22 grants encompassing over 40 institutions of higher education have been awarded through the program, with nine new grants expected through the Fiscal Year 2026 competition.
“Third Way applauds Senator Heinrich and Representative Stansbury for reintroducing the Postsecondary Student Success Act. We urge Congress to advance this legislation and provide lasting support for the Postsecondary Student Success Grant program—because we are all better off when students graduate.”
