Republicans have introduced a resolution to reverse DC’s Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act, a law that has been on the books without issue for years and gone through Congressional review three previous times without controversy. The Act includes many commonsense and bipartisan police reforms like prohibiting the use of chokeholds and improving accountability for police misconduct. In fact, it’s very similar to the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which nearly got unanimous Democratic support in the House. Here’s a side-by-side of the two pieces of legislation:
