Late last year, Canada and Mexico joined with the United States and eight other countries in negotiating for a Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal. But why is this good for the United States?

In this policy memo, we highlight four ways in which working with Canada and Mexico in the TPP could support American economic growth and good jobs. We explain how teaming up with our neighbors in the TPP could:

  1. Help boost U.S. exports;
  2. Make regional trade more efficient;
  3. Support the “re-shoring” of production to North America; and
  4. Provide important opportunities to update and modernize NAFTA.
