To continue to do nothing is unconscionable
October 02, 2017
WASHINGTON—Third Way issued the following statement from Sarah Trumble, Deputy Director of Social Policy & Politics:
"Last night’s horrific shooting in Las Vegas is the latest in a line of more than 1,500 mass shootings that have taken place in this country since Sandy Hook. It marks the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history, a tragic title that is earned far too regularly as of late. Today we offer our support to all those injured or grieving in Nevada, our thanks to the first responders on site, and our condemnation to a Congress that has routinely failed to act. Every day, more than 30 Americans are murdered with a gun and more than 200 others are shot and survive. To continue to do nothing is unconscionable. Third Way strongly believes in the Second Amendment—which is exactly why we fight so hard to protect it by ensuring that guns are kept out of the wrong hands. Congress should do the same. That is how we can honor the lives lost to gun violence last night—and every night—in America."
