Third Way Statement on the Remarkable Tenure of NEC Director Brian Deese

WASHINGTON — Third Way released the following statement from Jim Kessler, Executive Vice President for Policy:

“There is no playbook for reviving an economy in a coma because of a once-in-a-century pandemic keeping Americans away from work, schools, restaurants, and vacations. But that’s what the Biden Administration inherited in January 2021, and no one was given more responsibility within the White House to deliver answers than National Economic Council Director Brian Deese.

"His departure marks one of the most important and remarkable tenures of an NEC Director in recent memory. Our economy is moving forward with America fully back to work. The worst of inflation is behind us, with supply chains unclogged and a soft landing in our future. Bipartisan legislation that few thought possible on infrastructure and China competitiveness is now law, in large measure because of the trust Deese earned with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle. And he helped guide and pass essential measures to mitigate climate change and ease inflation.

"By any objective measure, America is much stronger than we were two years ago. Brian Deese is one of the unsung heroes within the Biden Administration who deserves our thanks and praise."
