Emily has built her career around pairing free-flowing creativity with incisive analysis to solve problems, smooth communications, and empower communities. As the Writing and Editorial Advisor at Third Way, you can find her writing op-eds, drafting reports, designing email-based marketing to Hill audiences, or speechwriting—sometimes all in one day. She has also revamped Third Way’s development materials, independently established an internal newsletter on writing style, and held a variety of workshops on topics ranging from professional bios to Microsoft Excel to bullet journals.
Emily cut her professional teeth writing legal analyses and crunching numbers for Charles River Associates, an economic consulting firm. There, she fostered a deep understanding of U.S. and international health care systems while writing white papers on topics like global rare disease treatment access, innovative pharmaceutical partnerships, and the economic burden of mental health. Prior to that, she organized surrogate travel for the Colorado Coordinated Campaign, working to grow grassroots support for Democratic candidates at events of up to 3,000 people.
While earning a B.A. in economics and international studies at Kenyon College, she led two student-run peer counseling groups, established a sexual assault bystander training program that became mandatory for all Greek and athletic organizations on campus, and helped rewrite the college’s sexual misconduct policy to better meet student needs.
