Mieke Eoyang directs Third Way’s National Security program, which is committed to crafting a national security strategy that is tough and smart. Prior to joining Third Way, Eoyang had a long career on Capitol Hill. Most recently she served as Representative Anna Eshoo’s Chief of Staff (D-CA). Prior to that she was the Defense Policy Advisor to Senator Edward M. Kennedy, the Subcommittee Staff Director on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and a Professional Staff Member on the House Armed Services Committee. Ms. Eoyang began her career as a legislative assistant in the office of Representative Pat Schroeder (D-CO), where she handled the Congresswoman’s Armed Services and Foreign Policy work. Ms. Eoyang, originally from Monterey, California, earned her J.D. at The University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and graduated from Wellesley College. Her writing has appeared in POLITICO and her analysis has been called on by The Financial Times, AP and other media outlets.
