Creating a Clean Energy Standard
How can the U.S. begin to compete for the $2 trillion clean energy market?
One way is to provide certainty to American businesses. We can help do that by establishing a national Clean Energy Standard. As U.S. Energy Secretary Stephen Chu suggested at Third Way’s December 7, 2010 New Millennium Nuclear Energy Summit, “This is one proposal…that I think Congress and the Administration have to consider very seriously.” This Idea Brief proposes a Clean Energy Standard that could help create thousands of jobs across clean energy sources like solar, wind and new nuclear power, would reduce pollution and, in this era of divided politics, has growing bipartisan support.
