Ed Gerwin is the Senior Fellow for Trade and Global Economic Policy at Third Way, where he works to develop and advance pro-growth, pro-trade, moderate economic policies that benefit the American economy and American workers. Before joining Third Way, Ed was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Winston & Strawn LLP. During his 28-year legal career, Ed represented and advised clients on a wide array of international trade law and policy matters, including trade-related legislation, trade agreements, investment rules, export controls and trade remedy cases. In 2008, Ed was a full-time, management-level volunteer with the Obama campaign. Ed earned his JD from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was Case and Notes Editor of Law and Policy in International Business, and his BA in political philosophy from Villanova University. At Third Way, Ed has written and spoken extensively on the need for the United States to tap into fast-growing foreign markets by attacking foreign trade barriers, negotiating smart new trade deals, and actively promoting U.S. exports. Ed has also worked to help trade senior policymakers in government and the private sector craft effective messaging on trade. He has written and commented widely on trade policy matters in such media outlets as Bloomberg, The Deal, Forbes, The Hill, The Huffington Post, and The Wall Street Journal.
