Small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) are poised to play an important role in generating clean electricity, as well as heat for manufacturing, in the United States. These scalable, self-contained nuclear reactors are a source of zero-emission baseload power that can meet the needs of small and large utilities and manufacturers. As important, many leading models of SMRs are designed in the US and can be built here as well. The global deployment of this next generation of reactors could lead to tens of thousands of new, well-paying American jobs and contribute to economic growth.
