Everyone agrees that a nuclear-armed Iran is unacceptable. The debate is about how best to stop Iran’s nuclear program. However, rejecting a nuclear-armed Iran does not mean embracing immediate military strikes. We offer three reasons why the use of force is not in the best interest of the United States or our allies in the near term:

  1. We still have time to stop Iran;
  2. International pressure and crippling sanctions are working – they must be given time to have their full effect; and
  3. Striking too soon would make it harder to stop Iran in the long run.
