SUMMARY

Conservatives are certain to attack progressives as “tax and spenders.” In this memo, we lay out how to handle that attack and win the debate over tax cuts.

This memo lays out the three elements progressives need for the tax debate:

  1. A tax plan that lays out their agenda to create a new era of middle-class opportunity and economic growth;
  2. A set of simple contrasts between whom the progressive plan benefits and whom the conservative plan benefits; and
  3. A simple critique of the economic philosophy behind the conservative plan and a compelling explanation of the economic philosophy behind the progressive plan.
