Third Way Statement on the International Trade Commission’s TPP Report

May 19, 2016

Third Way Vice President for the Economic Program Gabe Horwitz issued the following statement:

“The 788 pages of the ITC’s report can be summed up in four words: modern trade deals work. Just as our cars and computers have evolved since the ‘90s, so too have our trade agreements. And what we have seen is that these deals now include more market access, stronger labor provisions, better environmental provisions, and TPP is the strongest trade deal of its kind.

ITC’s analysis shows TPP will build growth, increase exports, create jobs, and raise wages. The benefits to consumers, workers, and a host of American businesses should be a clear sign to policymakers—America needs TPP, and Congressional leaders need to approve it before other countries step in to claim Asia Pacific.”
